Fitness is my passion! I've been involved in the fitness industry for as long as I can remember! After 25 plus years instructing group fitness classes, personal training and managing a health club, I was ready for a change and challenge! I began working with Touchstone over 3-1/2 years ago and absolutely love it! When not at the gym, or working out at the gym, I enjoy spending time with my family cruising around in our boat, biking, hiking.....pretty much anything where I'm outdoors and in the sun, and now climbing! I've come to really enjoy the climbing and love the challenge! Before Touchstone, I had never climbed before or been in a climbing gym. I was intrigued by the challenge of doing something different since I was bored stiff in a fitness/health club environment! This couldn't be a better fit and I'm so happy to have found a place where I can inspire people to get healthy in so many different ways.
I am Native to Bishop, CA, so I was raised hiking and skiing in the Eastern Sierras. I am currently attending Fresno State where I'm studying nutrition and wish everyone would eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. I may be new to climbing, but I'm eager to learn some new skills in the gym and take them outside. On my time off, you can find me riding my bike, swimming laps or guiding the white water on the Kings River. I also have rather large triceps, so watch out
Yo yo I’m Trent, the pizza guy. I’m from Tehachapi where I fell in love with the mountains and decided to hit up Fresno State to learn about the Earth and Environmental Sciences. Forest Gump is my hero because all I want to do is run! I was introduced to climbing two years ago and haven’t been able to stop since. It’s an addiction that I’m able to admit to. When I’m not running, climbing, or pretending to study I’m probably guiding on the Kings River.
Before I started climbing, I didn’t get the point; just a bunch of skinny dudes slapping the top of a man made rock at an indoor gym. What could be so hard about that? Interested, I bought the cheapest pair of shoes online and tried it out, and after my first attempt (and failure) on a V0, the point became clear to me, and I was hooked. I love the climbing scene in Fresno, everyone is very supportive of whatever you are doing, but there is always a slightly competitive side that keeps you on your toes too. My first pair of climbing shoes was the best investment I have ever made.
I started climbing when I was 14. I love bouldering especially in Yosemite (although I hate mosquitos!) Rock climbing is the coolest outdoor sport. Everything else is for chumps.
John is a native of San Francisco and recent Fresno transplant. He got his first taste of climbing over 2 years ago after one of his best friends pressured him into trying it. In the beginning, he did it with his friends, but soon he found himself climbing solo. His tolerance to climbing was slowly starting to increase. At first, each session was spaced many days apart but before he knew it, he had such a strong craving for more and more climbing —he couldn’t get enough of it. The harder the climb, the higher he got. His friends weren’t worried of course, at least at first. “Oh it’s just a phase.” “He’s just experimenting.” However, soon they noticed he was getting high off climbing nearly everyday. They had to intervene.
They thought, “But look, he’s getting so much exercise and getting stronger, that’s so unlike him.” “It may be too late, all he wants to do is go climbing wherever he can, we can’t convince him now; he’ll never listen.” “He still has a job???” “We’ve lost him…”
Shortly thereafter John sold his sailboat, started reading books again, and woke up one day married to another climber whom he followed to Fresno where they now live with two cats.
I love coffee. I love climbing. Put em together and BOOM. Awesomeness. I've been climbing for a little over 6 years. Bouldering and sport climbing are my favorite, but I like off widths and chimney problems too! Outside of climbing I draw, run and ride my bike. I sold my car a year and a half ago and have been commuting via velo ever since. Rain or shine its never a bad time to ride!"
