What is Hyperion named after?
Hyperion is named after the tallest known living tree on Earth—a coastal redwood in Northern California that stands over 380 feet tall. The name also comes from Greek mythology: Hyperion was a Titan associated with light and observation.
Between the redwood and the myth, Hyperion evokes something powerful and always reaching upward, fitting for a climbing gym rooted in Redwood City and built to support growth in our climbers and community.
