The Touchstone Climbing Series, known among friends as TCS2015, is the largest climbing competition in the country. The series visits all 9 Touchstone Climbing gyms, bringing with it brand new climbs, pizza, beer, prizes, t-shirts, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Rope Finale at Mission Cliffs
Last month marked the half way point in the comp’s Tour de Touchstone, culminating in a on-sight rope finale at Mission Cliffs. Over 400 competitors and spectators enjoyed a day of climbing, eating and merriment.
Bouldering Competition at Berkeley Ironworks
Berkeley Ironworks is gearing up to kick off the bouldering series this Friday. The competition will run from 5pm -10pm. Competitors in beginner, intermediate and advanced categories will compete during this time, self scoring and climbing as many boulder problems as they’d like.
Beer and pizza will be provided for all competitors. At 10pm we’ll collect the final score cards, award raffle prizes, and continue the party elsewhere!
The competition is free to members and $10 for non-members. You do not need to sign up ahead of time, but coming prepared will save you time at when you arrive. To win the adoration of our registration team, come to the comp with a printed paper waiver in hand.
In a perfect world, your waiver will be filled out, and you’ll write your 3 letter competition code on top of the waiver. If you have competed in a Touchstone Climbing competition in the last 3 years, you already have a comp code, and you can look it up.
Our Route Setting team needs time to craft the gems that you’ll be projecting come comp night – so be aware that portions of the bouldering walls will be closed beginning Tuesday night.
Tuesday 7/14 @ 9pm – Wave CLOSED
Wednesday 7/15 – Half of bouldering walls CLOSED
Thursday 7/16 – Remaining of bouldering walls CLOSED
Friday 7/17 – All bouldering CLOSED until 5pm and all roped climbing CLOSED
Huge thanks to Blurr, evolv, Black Diamond for donating competition prizes to our event! To win prizes from these amazing companies, all you need to do is compete! Your score card becomes your raffle ticket, and everyone is entered into the drawing.
Big thanks to Lagunitas Brewery for providing beer for the event. Lagunitas is a Northern California Brewery that not only crafts tasty booze, but also donates beer to non-profits organizations. Since all proceeds from comp night are going to the Bay Area Climbers Coalition – that means us!
The BACC is coming out in full force with a raffle of their own at the competition. Check out what you can win on comp night!
Touchstone Climbing Competitions are a chance for us a give a big metaphorical ‘thank you’ hug to all our members for being so awesome. We hope that you’ll come celebrate with us this Friday at Berkeley Ironworks!RSVP HERE
