Youth Camps

Our Youth Climbing Camps are the perfect introduction to the world of climbing. Designed for children aged 7 to 12, these camps are ideal for both new climbers and those returning after a break. Led by experienced Touchstone coaches, participants build foundational climbing skills, make friends, and discover the joy of climbing in a supportive environment.

Climbers enrolled in Touchstone’s Youth Camps will:

  • Develop confidence and overcome challenges through climbing
  • Learn rope handling and belaying (at gyms with rope walls)

Camp Offerings

Touchstone offers a variety of Kid Camps. Check out the Information and Booking links below for Camp schedules and availability at Berkeley Ironworks.

After-School Camps

Ages 7-12 | 8-week sessions | 2 hours/week

Our After-School Camps run from September to May and offer a fun and structured way for youth to learn the fundamentals of climbing and belaying (at our rope gyms) during the school year. Over the course of eight weeks, climbers meet once a week for two hours to develop strength, balance, and teamwork while exploring movement on the wall.

This program helps new climbers gain confidence and prepare for more structured training opportunities, such as Touchstone’s Club Team.

Summer Camps

Ages 7-12 | June-August | Weeklong sessions

Our Summer Camps run weekly throughout the summer, offering climbers 3-4 hours of active instruction each day, Monday through Friday. The goal is the same as our after-school camps—learn to climb, build skills, and have fun—but in a flexible summer format that fits family schedules.

Each day includes climbing challenges, games, and guided instruction focused on safety, technique, and teamwork.

Touchstone Climbing is dedicated to making youth climbing programs affordable for all families.
Our Access to Climbing (ATC) Program offers discounts to families on Government Assistance.

Prerequisites

Camps are open to climbers ages 7 to 12. No prior experience is required.

In rare cases, coaches may allow an experienced climber under age 7 to participate, pending approval from the Youth Programs Director. Camps are primarily designed for beginner to intermediate climbers.
