About The Oaks
The Oaks opened in North Berkeley in 2023 at the site of the historic Oaks Theater on Solano Ave. As Touchstone’s second movie theater retrofit, The Oaks is a bouldering-only gym featuring hundreds of problems on slab walls, steep overhangs, dihedrals, aretes, and an extensive fitness area. Whether you’re a newbie wanting to get fit or a serious climber training for your next bouldering trip, the Oaks is your home away from home. Paying homage to the building's 90-year history, we host monthly movie screenings that bring the community together under the same roof where audiences gathered for decades.
As a part of Touchstone Climbing, a public benefit corporation with 18 climbing gyms across California, The Oaks serves the North Berkeley community through our ongoing community support and outdoor stewardship initiatives.
From youth programs, climbing classes, and affinity groups, to an extensive range of amenities, The Oaks offers something for every climber, whether you are brand-new or looking to level up your training.
