Parking downtown is rough! Got any beta? Do you validate parking?

There is metered street parking available on surrounding city blocks. Metered parking is free after 6pm Monday–Saturday and free all day on Sundays.

With the recent end of the ParkSJ Validation Program, we recommend parking at the Second & San Carlos Garage, located between 2nd and 3rd on San Carlos just 2 blocks from the gym. In lieu of validation, 2nd & San Carlos offers the first 90 minutes of parking free. There is also a city lot located under Hwy 280 just 3 blocks south of us on 1st St that is available for free parking Saturday and Sunday.

Do you have staff who can supervise my child?

No. We don’t offer on-demand supervision. However, we have great Youth Programs, including private lessons, climbing camps, and clubs.

Can we bring a small group of kids if it’s not a birthday party?

Yes, but you must maintain supervision ratios:

  • 1:3 non-climbing adults to kids in the bouldering area
  • 1:5 in the roped area

Do you host birthday parties?

We no longer host birthday parties, but you’re welcome to bring a small, self-sufficient group (see below) if you meet the following criteria:

  • Everyone has completed a waiver.
  • Groups must reserve at least one week in advance by emailing sj_staff@touchstoneclimbing.com.
  • Groups with kids under 13 may not exceed 15 participants.

Self-Sufficient Group Requirements

Bouldering

  • Safety first: Adults must keep all children within arm’s reach.
  • Experience required: For every 5 climbers, at least one must be an experienced boulderer (has taken our Intro to Bouldering Class or has 6+ months of experience).
  • Request a falling/safety lesson and review our kids’ safety brochure at the front desk.
  • Maintain at least a 1:3 adult-to-child ratio for kids 12 and under.

Top Roping

  • For every 5 climbers, at least one adult must be a Touchstone-certified belayer (18+).
  • Certified belayers hold a permanent Touchstone belay card or can pass our belay test without assistance.
  • Consider taking an Intro to Climbing Class beforehand for a refresher.
  • Maintain at least a 1:3 adult-to-child ratio for kids 12 and under.

If you’re unsure whether your group meets these requirements, please reach out to our staff before your visit. If requirements aren’t met, we may not be able to accommodate your group for safety reasons.

Do you allow non-service dogs into your gym?

Nope. Sorry, no fluffy friends allowed inside the gym.

Can I purchase a gift card online?

Of course you can, you lucky ducky! Gift cards are available in any amount, can be used at all of our locations, and never expire. Purchase Now

I am not a member. Do I need to make an appointment to climb or are you open to the public?

Yes, we are open to the public. You can drop by anytime we are open.

Do you give tours or can I come look around on my own?

Yes. Some gyms offer staff-guided tours and others offer self-guided tours. An appointment is not necessary, you may come in anytime during business hours. Before you arrive please fill out a waiver to expedite your check-in process. See you soon!

Do you have auto belays?

We do not have auto belays. However, if you don’t have a partner we’re always happy to try and find you one. Just ask the desk staff to make an announcement for you over the PA, and you’ll be climbing with a new friend in no time.

Do you have free trial passes?

We do not have free trial passes, but we do offer Day Passes. We also offer a special Ten Pass, which will waive your initiation fee if you decide to become a member.
