Three Ways to Climb at Pacific Pipe
1. Bouldering
Bouldering is performed without ropes or harnesses. All you need to boulder at our gym is a pair of climbing shoes — we have rentals.
Never bouldered before? Watch the video below, sign up for our Intro to Bouldering Class, or ask the front desk staff for a quick orientation.
Bouldering Awareness Video2. Top Roping
In this style of climbing, the climber is securely attached to a rope that passes up and through an anchor system at the top of the climb, then back down to a belayer.
To top rope at our gym, all you need is a class or a belay test and gear. If you don’t have gear, you can rent everything you need from the front desk.
Touchstone Tips3. Lead Climbing
When lead climbing, the climber ties into a climbing rope on the ground that isn’t attached to an anchor point. As they climb the route, the climber clips the rope to hanging draws.
Lead climbing requires unique expertise from both the climber and belayer. Looking to learn? Check out our Lead Climbing Clinics.
