Geological Map of El Capitan

Greg Stock is the first-ever Park Geologist at Yosemite National Park. He has B.S. and Ph.D. (U.C. Santa Cruz) degrees in geology and earth science, and was a researcher at the University of Michigan prior to accepting the job at Yosemite in 2006. Stock has a number of interesting articles about Yosemite rock fall and the park’s geology.

Yosemite Bouldering: Puro on Goldilocks

Barraza made the first ascent of the Bridalveil boulder problem in May 2009. Barraza talked about the problem on BetaBase, “This is a problem in Bridalveil facing the Meat & Potatoes wall. Not many holds, but just enough to get you by. (You can say that about many Yosemite boulder problems, though) It all boils down to a dyno to a decent edge, but you have to grab the hold just right, hence the name: Goldilocks.”
