The Touchstone Zero Gravity Climbing Team is starting a Development Team for athletes roughly in the ages of 6-10. Sessions are on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 at Mission Cliffs. The first session will be on Thursday, September 20th.
The program is structured by US National Team Coach and Zero Gravity Head Coach Scot Jenerik. The sessions are run by Multi-time National Champion and World Record holder Cicada Jenerik. Cicada is currently 18 years old, has been climbing since she was 4 and has been competing at a National level since she was 7. Cicada holds the distinction of being the first person to ever Boulder their Age, V10 at 10 and V11 at 11 years old. She has been a member of the US National Climbing Team since she was 9 and was a Bronze Medalist at the Youth World Championships.
The development program is focused on helping the young climbers develop their technique, physical ability and mental discipline in a fun environment. Though the program is in no way as intense as that of the Elite team, it is also not intended as merely babysitting playtime. Our intent is to not only help these young athletes develop their skills but also their love of climbing.
