At Dogpatch Boulders, we’re lucky to have groups like Gilman Rec Connect visit us regularly. Gilman Rec Connect is an important resource for local kids that collaborates with other established youth organizations to build on school-day learning with educational after-school projects and activities. This summer program is free to kids in the community and serves some of the most disadvantaged families living in the Alice Griffith housing projects and the surrounding area.
JT, the Program Director of the Gilman Playground, has been bringing in a group of kids each summer for several years now, and it is always such a joy to have them experience our favorite sport. We want Dogpatch Boulders to be accessible to anyone who is interested, and we’re excited to be in talks with Gilman Rec Connect about being available to the kids during the school year, too.
Gilman Rec Connect is a program developed through Hunters Point Family, a grassroots, community-based organization that provides holistic programs supporting at-risk youth and young adults living in Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco. Be sure to check out their website to learn more about them and see how you can get involved.
