On March 15, nearly 300 climbers headed to Concord to climb at the Touchstone Bouldering Series 8 comp at Diablo Rock Gym. “It was high energy,” said manager Hans Florine. “Folks were stoked on the problems.”
Scott Cory eeked his way to the top men’s place, beating local Connor Everton by a mere 40 points. Dustin Park pulled in a solid third place finish. In women’s Hannah Donelly finished first followed by Kat Gentry and Katrina Louie.
Connor Everton, who has been training 4 days a week for 3-4 hours each day in preparation for the USA climbing competitions, spoke a little bit about TBS 8 at DRG. “I liked how I didn’t have any pressure to do well or to not do well, I could just climb,” said Everton of the comp scene. “The atmosphere was a lot like how it normally is which is a very relaxed place, almost like a 2nd home.”
TBS 8 heads out to Great Western Power Company in April.
