The Touchstone Climbing Series brings the party to each and every Touchstone gym, and this month it’s headed to our capital city! Sacramento Pipeworks completed their bouldering expansion earlier this year, and we can’t wait to see the space filled with comp problems! Never been to a TCS competition? Here are some helpful tips to prepare for Friday night.
Before:
- Assemble your climbing gear. This is a bouldering competition, so all you really need are climbing shoes, a chalk bag, and a smile. If you don’t have your own shoes, you can always rent a pair for the comp.
- A competition code. If you’ve competed in a Touchstone comp in the last 3 years, you already have one! You can look it up, or get your code here.
- A paper waiver. You’ve filled out digital waivers in the past. You’ve filled out waivers at comps. Let’s help keep that beloved tradition alive! Everyone will need a printed paper waiver. Print your waiver ahead of time if you want to be really VIP and skip the line.
During:
Ok wait, seriously?! You’ve never been to a Touchstone Climbing Series competition? Woo-doggy are you in for a treat! The comp is a low key fun-filled climbing bonanza in which climbers of ALL LEVELS get together to climb on brand new boulder problems. When you arrive, you’ll fill out a waiver and register for your comp code (unless you followed the above instructions and skip the line).
The climbing is self-scored, so climb as many problems as you’d like, then turn in your score cards at the end of the night. We’ll add up your top 5 highest scores. These comps are a great way for us to give back to our members and provide a fun community event. After you’re done climbing, stick around for pizza, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and raffle prizes!
These events are FREE to members, and only $10 for guests. It’s probably the best thing you could be doing with your Friday night, so be sure to tell your friends.
After:
Check your scores the following day, and get psyched for the bouldering finale at Dogpatch Boulders on November 21st! It’s been a long year of comps and we can’t believe it’s almost over! See you Friday at Sacramento Pipeworks!
