The USAC Bouldering Divisional Championships took place earlier this month at the BaseCamp climbing gym in Reno, NV. After qualifying for the event at the Regional Championships, 19 Team Touchstone climbers from Northern and Southern California convened in Reno for a shot at competing at the national level.
The two-day Divisional Championship took hundreds of climbers from across California and Nevada and tested them as all-around boulderers on climbs that ranged from technical to cryptic, to outright burly. Each age/gender category drew large numbers of climbers, but only the top 6 climbers from each category earned themselves an invitation to the National Championships which take place next month in Madison, WI.
After two days of competition, Team Touchstone finished in second place in the overall team rankings, with 10 climbers qualifying for Nationals.
Beyond the numbers, Team Touchstone saw standout performances from climbers across the team roster, and unofficially won the award for the biggest team dinner at Divisionals this year. Look for Team Touchstone climbers to be training at your local Touchstone gym, and stay tuned for news from Nationals next month!
Huge thanks to our climbing community for supporting the next generation of climbing. We’re so proud of our youth climbers and the support they receive from parents, coaches, and fellow climbers.
