Open Qualifiers + Finals

Touchstone’s Third Annual Woman Up Climbing festival, brought to you by Touchstone + Mountain Hardwear, returned to Dogpatch Boulders on July 19th – 21st.

We were thrilled to showcase this year’s all-female routesetting crew and celebrate womxn in climbing in 2019!

Friday, July 19, 6pm–10pm

Beth Rodden Keynote Presentation, 6pm–7:30pm

Beth is one of the world’s most accomplished rock climbers, with a number of 5.14’s under her belt in sport, trad, and big wall style. Her Yosemite route Meltdown (5.14c) is one of the hardest trad climbs in the world and didn’t see a second ascent for over 10 years. She’s currently focused on her hardest pursuit yet: motherhood. We were honored to have her share her story with us in 2019! All genders were invited to join.

All-Gender Kick-Off Party, 7:30pm–10pm

After Beth’s keynote, we kicked off Woman Up 2019 an evening extravaganza! All genders partied with us into the night. We encouraged EVERYONE to dance their way into the weekend with a silent disco in Mountain Hardwear’s basecamp tent and enjoy snacks and beer from our friends at Seven Stills.

Friday’s events were free for members and $10 for non-members.

Saturday July 20, 8am–8pm

Womxn’s Open Bouldering Competition: Qualifiers, 8am–12pm

We had a $5,000 cash purse waiting to be claimed by the top six boulderers in our All-Womxn’s Open Competition! Those wanting to go head-to-head in the Finals round had to come early to climb on judged Qualifiers problems. This event was intended for women and underrepresented genders. Everyone was encouraged to spectate at Finals!

Womxn’s Citizen Bouldering Competition, 11am–4pm

For womxn and folx of underrepresented genders who may be uncertain about the comp scene, this was the round for you! The All-Womxn’s Citizen Competition is an opportunity for you to push yourself in a friendly environment. The comp is self-scored and set by an all-female routesetting crew. There’s nothing else quite like it! Men were encouraged to spectate and cheer on the participants.

Vendor Village, 10am–6pm

Whether you were in between burns during the Citizen’s comp or you just went to spectate, you could hang out with your favorite brands all day at Vendor Village and enjoy games, sample sales, snacks, and more.

Happy Hour Mixer, 4pm–5pm

Mingling with new and old friends while we set up for the big show: Womxn’s Open Finals!

Womxn’s Open Bouldering Competition: Finals, 6pm–8pm

This was the capstone event of the Woman Up Climbing Competition where the top six womxn from Qualifiers go head-to-head for the $5,000 cash purse!

Saturday’s events were free for spectators who are members and $10 for non-members.

Sunday, July 21, 9am–6pm
