It’s Tuesday, which means if you look hard enough… Friday is almost in sight!
But how will you make the most of your precious weekend? How will you really TGIF this F?
May we introduce to you, the Touchstone Climbing Series.
Know simply at #TCS2015 to it’s friends, the Touchstone Climbing Series is the largest indoor climbing competition in the world. Touring every Touchstone Climbing and Fitness Gym location throughout California, the series makes a stop at each gym every month, bringing with it an entire gym of new routes or boulder problems, pizza, beer, prizes, and of course, all your favorite people. It’s an excuse for each unique gym to party like it’s 1999, and an excuse for members and guests to jump on the tour bus and check out gyms they don’t normally visit.
This Friday, the series returns to Fresno, California. MetalMark Climbing and Fitness is hosting the 2nd month of our bouldering series, and doing it in style. If you’re a Fresnopian, you already know how you’re spending your Friday. At the gym! But if you hail from other outside the Central Valley, consider taking the trip! Here are extra perks about the comp that you wont want to miss!
1. Drinking Local
For the 21 and older crowd, you’ll have a tasty brew to greet you after you finish climbing, a la’ our own Lee Morphew! Lee has been brewing beer for over 15 years, and at Tioga Sequoia Brewing Co. for the past 2 1/2 years.
At the comp we will be pouring ‘Cool As A Cucumber,’ a traditional style Pilsner featuring Bohemian Malts and Saaz Hops, brewed with local organic hand-peeled cucumbers. AND ‘Orange U Glad,’ a double dry-hopped imperial IPA, brewed with blood oranges and an array of citrusy hops. Check out Tioga Sequoia Brewing Company and get psyched to drink local on Friday night here at MetalMark!
2. Climbing gems.
The Touchstone Climbing Routesetters will be coming from far and wide to fill the gym with the greatest boulder problems the world has ever known. You owe it to yourself to take Friday off, road trip to Fresno, and climb all over their handiwork. If you’ve been living under a rock and have never been to a TCS comp, check out this video to get a better idea of what to expect.
